Choosing the "right" speaker.First of all, the "right" speaker does not exist!
The design of loudspeakers for the electric guitar is a distinct art.
Unlike those engineered for most other applications, the guitar loudspeaker is not required simply to reproduce sound, but is itself part of the sound-producing mechanism. The characteristics of the speaker play an active and significant role in determining the tonal qualities and the power and attack of both the player and the instrument.
The best musical instrument loudspeaker must therefore incorporate the highest possible electro-acoustic conversion efficiency and must be precisely contoured in terms of frequency response and transient capability to suit the type of instrument and application and to align with required tonal characteristics in guitar sound.
Most guitarists spend a great deal of time and money selecting the right guitar and amp, without paying due consideration to the quality of their speaker cabinets. A guitarist’s rig is only as good as the cabinet and the speakers inside.
There is a vast choice of guitar speakers. Even famous companies have some speakers just for marketing reasons in their product range.
